On 9 June 2008 Argentina’s state company ENARSA announced the first of six offshore rounds to be held bi-annually through 2010.  This round will include nine offshore blocks totalling 113,200 square kilometres in the Salado, Colorado and Golfo de San Jorge basins off the coast of southern Argentina's Chubut province.  The dates announced are: sale of data packages on 10 July 2008; deadline to submit on 4 November 2008; Envelope A on 4 November 2008 and Envelope B on 1 December 2008.

ENARSA will require a minimum 51% interest in each of the blocks.  If commerciality is declared, 25-year exploitation contracts will be signed.  ENARSA is not responsible for exploration costs if hydrocarbons are not found.  The company, however, will provide up to 50% of any eventual net revenues from the areas to pay back its share of exploration costs if reserves are discovered.

The company is developing a 2-D seismic acquisition programme that could include some of the area offered.  This seismic information will be available for interested companies after it has been processed and interpreted.  This acquisition programme is not include in the data packages and will need to be purchased by other processes.
