Licensing round updates:

UK’s 13th landward licensing round announced
The UK’s Department for Business Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR) has invited applications for licences in the 13th Landward Oil and Gas Licensing Round.  BERR states that it expects significant interest from companies looking to explore prospective hydrocarbon sites across Britain.  In particular, BERR hope that this latest round will promote coal-bed methane production in the UK.

The round invites companies to apply for Petroleum Exploration and Development Licences (PEDLs) for unlicensed blocks in central Scotland, south-east and north-east Wales and regions in the north, west and south of England.  Any offers will be for a 90 day period with applications being received in February 2008. The last landward licensing round took place in 2004.

The areas on offer will be available in the next PetroView North West Europe dataset update.

For more information on the landward licensing round, please visit the official website.
