Thailand's 20th concession bidding round

Thailand's Ministry of Energy (Department of Mineral Fuels) announced the opening of its 20th Concession Bidding Round on 23rd May 2007, for a period of one year. 65 concessions covering a total of 235,606 square kilometres are on offer, with 56 blocks located onshore and nine offshore in the Gulf of Thailand.

This comes shortly after the 19th Bidding Round closed nearly a year ago, with a total of 16 concessions (21 explorations blocks) awarded by April 2007.

Acreages offered under Thailand's 20th Concession Bidding Round are available in the PetroView Asia Pacifc June 2007 update.

Sri Lankan licensing round

Sri Lanka's Ministry of Petroleum & Petroleum Resources Development has announced the Mannar Basin Licensing Round 2007. The offshore Mannar Basin has been divided into eight blocks. Blocks 2, 3 and 4 are available for bidding in this round. Blocks 7 and 8 have been allocated for Indian and Chinese state-owned oil companies. The remaining three blocks will be offered at a later date. Roadshows for the licensing round have been preliminary scheduled in London on 20th August 2007, Houston on 27th August 2007 and Kuala Lumpur on 3rd September 2007. Companies will need to submit their bids by the end of January 2008.

PetroView South Asia goes monthly

We are pleased to announce that the PetroView South Asia dataset has moved from quarterly to monthly updates from May 2007.

The June release of PetroView South Asia includes a new data layer, OPENBLOCKS. This layer is an archive of historic blocks that have been offered in South Asian countries including, for example, India's NELP-VI round blocks offered in 2006. Current open block opportunities are maintained within the main blocks layer alongside existing licensed acreage.

Updated wall and pocket maps

We are pleased to present our latest wall and pocket maps for North West Europe and Arabian Peninsula, which were released in June 2007. These maps form part of our popular series of A1 wall maps, which are available for you to download and print from our website at no cost.

PetroView Caspian - Kazakhstan launched

Delayed We are pleased to announce the release of PetroView coverage for Kazakhstan.

The first release, launched on 15th June 2007, will include licence, field, prospect, well and company data. Pipelines and facilities will also be incorporated as part of the first quarterly update. Coverage for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will be added in turn to complete the Caspian region during the second half of 2007.

Once completed, PetroView Caspian will move to a monthly update cycle.
